Description: The need for a transition towards more sustainable cities requires reinforcement of academic programmes that educate professionals able to develop viable solutions for smart sustainable cities. The regions participating in the ESSENCE project learn from each other’s approaches to sustainable cities while HEIs work together on societal challenges with innovative approaches. The project applies innovative teaching and learning methods, such as creative and blended learning. Attention is also paid to entrepreneurship and to encouraging to develop start-ups.
